Assistant Director of Nursing position available in our Oakfield Nursing Home - Join our Team.
We are seeking a dedicated, experienced and compassionate Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our leadership team within a well-established nursing home group.

The Assistant Director of Nursing will support the Director of Nursing in the overall clinical governance and day-to-day management of the nursing home. The role involves providing clinical leadership, overseeing standards of care, supporting audits and inspections and ensuring policies and procedures are implemented in practice.
Working with the Director of Nursing, the successful candidate will work to ensure that the highest standards of nursing care are delivered to residents and support and promote the creation of a homely environment where the quality of life of our residents is the key focus, whilst also supporting staff development, compliance and continuous improvement.
This role is majority Monday to Friday with occasional flexibility required.
Requirements
Registered Nurse with Active NMBI Registration
Experience in a senior nursing role or management role (ADoN/CNM/Senior Staff Nurse); Minimum 3 years desirable
Demonstrable clinical and professional ability, leadership, communication and organisational skills
Commitment to delivering high quality person centred care
Strong working knowledge of HIQA standards, procedures, notifications and guidelines
Post registration qualification in gerontology and/or dementia care highly desirable or willingness to undertake within 3 years of employment supported by the employer
Post registration qualification
Must be eligible to work in Ireland
Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical leadership and support the day to day running of the home
Oversee care delivery, documentation and clinical standards across the home, promote a strong team-based culture
Lead on clinical governance, audits and risk management
Contribute to staff rostering, performance management and ongoing development
Act as a key point of contact for residents and families
Deputise for the Director of Nursing as required
Ensuring medication practices are carried out according to Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland guidelines and as per recommended practice in the nursing home and liaising with GPs and pharmacy with regards to medication reviews and audit. Ensuring that all nursing staff are deemed competent in all aspects of medication management, and that their practice is safe. Ensuring that education on medication management practices is provided to all newly appointed staff as part of their induction and that they fully understand all aspects of practice related to prescribing, administration and documentation of medications, including electronic prescriptions.
