We are seeking an experienced Materials Coordinator with strong knowledge of logistics processes and a technical background.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Works closely with the project team to ensure timely delivery of aircraft at minimal logistics costs.
2. Manages material supply and exceptions related to logistics processes.
3. Reviews material requests from production, clarifies exceptional requests, and checks alternative cheaper options.
4. Determines delivery dates in consultation with lead technicians and project engineers/managers and provides approval within the material request escalation process for time-critical requests.
5. Supports the purchasing team on material requests, clarifications, and finding local alternative options involving production and engineering.
6. Processes various order types as required, including purchase orders, repair orders, exchange orders, service orders, and non-stock orders.
7. Coordinates alternative options in the event of sourcing problems, including all aspects of in-house part fabrication related to materials and part robberies.
8. Liaises with the planning department to identify and source SB kits and other materials as required.
9. Ensures accuracy of pre-draw material in conjunction with the planning and purchasing departments.
10. Challenges requests from production and provides materials information to production and on-site customer representatives as required.
11. Ensures all required material approvals from customer representatives.
12. Prior to the end of the layover, requests production to return all unused materials during the layover.
13. Ensures all materials placed for return by mechanics are collected and returned to store.
14. Monitors daily material consumption and serviceable returns, ensuring zero value-added to inventory.
15. Identifies and implements process improvement opportunities.
16. Updates the material request report on all supplied materials and priority items.
17. Collects, monitors, and communicates with the purchasing team on all priority items identified by production.
18. Attends and participates in project team meetings and customer update meetings, takes away action items, communicates with the purchasing team, and provides priorities to stores for receiving and issuing.
19. Monitors and reports material consumption by layover and workstation on a daily/weekly basis.
20. Ensures support to production at main layover milestones, engine runs, ground checks, and demo flights.
21. Performs any other duties assigned by the materials manager as it relates to materials.
Candidate Requirements:
* Technical/aviation background and ideally hold a third-level qualification or equivalent.
* Minimum of three years' professional experience with aircraft maintenance and overhaul.
* Strong knowledge of logistics processes (planning & purchasing, warehouse, transport).
* Professional in all dealings and has excellent communication skills.
* Good team player with strong interpersonal skills.
* Thinks and acts commercially and delivers customer value.
* Able to prioritize and meet deadlines and targets.
* Be flexible according to workload during project phases.
* Able to problem-solve and generate new ideas/identify potential for improvement within their working area.
* Computer literate (word, excel) and SAP knowledge.
