Head of Business Unit, Our client, Pinewood Healthcare a leading multinational specialising in generic and OTC medicines, is seeking a Head of Business Unit for the Irish market.
This is a key leadership role with responsibility for driving growth across both Retail and Hospital channels for one of Irelands top generic players.
Based in the Dublin office (just off the M50), you will report directly to the Managing Director and play a central role in shaping the Irish commercial strategy.
Role Purpose Lead the growth agenda for a Top 5 generic and OTC medicines business across Retail and Hospital segments.
Develop and implement the Commercial and Marketing Strategy in partnership with the MD, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and long-term revenue goals.
Manage and develop a large team, including a national sales force, customer service/tele-sales teams, and a dedicated logistics centre supporting product distribution.
Key Responsibilities Lead and optimise the performance of the sales force to maximise sales and margins.
Manage relationships with wholesalers and key accounts, ensuring strong performance and consistent delivery of sales targets.
Oversee sales performance, discounts, budget expenditure, and profit forecasting to ensure financial targets are met.
Build and manage a robust product pipeline, including contract negotiations with third-party partners/CMOs and coordination of future product launches.
Identify and execute commercial strategies that enhance customer value and product performance.
Develop and maintain a competitive intelligence database to support pricing, market analysis, and competitor insights.
Provide commercial evaluations for new projects that could strengthen the Irish product portfolio.
Candidate Profile Minimum Level 8 degree in Business, Marketing, Science, or a related field.
At least 10 years experience in sales operations with a strong record of achievement.
Significant experience in the pharmaceutical sector is essential.
Proven people leader with the ability to influence, drive change, and motivate teams.
Results-driven, self-motivated, and committed to delivering high performance.
Strong numerical and analytical skills, with experience in forecasting, budgeting, and cost control.
Excellent operational capability combined with strong commercial awareness, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to build credible relationships at Director level and influence key stakeholders.
Experience working cross-functionally.
Strong presentation skills.
