Job Description

The Central CAD team in Microchip provides CAD services to the design business units. A wide range of CAD services are provided. These include PDK development and delivery, hardware infrastructure support, design tool installation, distribution and support, Library and IP procurement and infrastructure support, as well as design flow environment, methodology and support for Microchip’s digital, analog and mixed-signal designs.

The Central CAD team has a global presence with staff in multiple locations. With the increasing Microchip design presence in Cork, Ireland, the central CAD team is looking to provide local analog and mixed signal CAD support and to provide additional time zone support for the other European design centres.

What will you do in this position

Reporting to the CAD Staff Engineer, you will be part of the CAD Development group. As a Linux System Administrator II, you will support local and remote Engineering users and resources.

Key job responsibilities/duties include:

* Install and Configure Linux Systems
* Perform System Maintenance
* Monitor System Performance
* Provide Technical Support and Guidance
* User & Account maintenance

Qualifications and Experience

* BS in Computer Science, Information Science, or related field and two years of experience in one of the following fields: information technology or system administration
* Experience with installation, administration, monitoring, and maintenance of secure Linux/Unix operating systems (RedHat/CentOS, Solaris).
* Fundamental programming skills (Bash, Perl, Python, TCL, or similar languages).
* Familiarity with Unix/Linux file systems and NFS computer node storage.
* Familiarity with Unix/Linux system security and file permissions.
* Ability to identify and resolve problems and manage system performance.
* Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
* Excellent organization and communication skills, written & verbal.
* Knowledge of multi-vendor tool management and/or flex licensing is a plus.
* Ability to develop positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members.
