About the Role:
As an Operations Specialist - Claims, you will play a pivotal role as a problem solver and process improver across all areas of claims operations. You'll work closely with management and cross functional teams to identify, analyse, and resolve operational challenges, turning business needs and data insights into meaningful, actionable change.
This position blends business analysis, operational insight, and stakeholder engagement to enhance efficiency, strengthen systems, and supports data informed decision-making. By driving alignment and continuous improvement, you will help elevate performance, transparency, and service delivery across the Claims function.
The successful candidate will be creative, solution focused, and skilled at generating actionable insights. A dynamic problem solver with strong experience, aptitude, or natural acumen in the "grey area" where MI, Business Analysis, Project Management, and related disciplines overlap.
Fitness & Probity and Conduct Standards
IPB Insurance is a financial institution regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland. As such, this role is regulated and subject to the Fitness and Probity Standards as set out by the Central Bank. These standards require that individuals performing Controlled Functions (CFs) are competent, capable, honest, ethical, and act with integrity. In addition, the role is subject to the Conduct Standards introduced under the Central Bank (Individual Accountability Framework) Act 2023, which apply throughout the course of employment. Accordingly, this role will be subject to enhanced pre-employment screening procedures, and there will be an ongoing requirement for the role holder to maintain both fit and proper status and adherence to the Conduct Standards throughout their employment.
What You'll Do:
Operational Process & Efficiency
* Build a deep understanding of Claims processes, systems, data flows, and how they interact across the wider business.
* Identify opportunities to improve operational practices and support the implementation of sustainable solutions.
* Manage small projects and assigned tasks, ensuring work is prioritised and delivered on time.
* Work with the Claims Business Support Team to analyse data, identify trends, and develop early warning indicators that support informed decision making.
Problem Solving & Technical Support
* Investigate operational issues and develop practical solutions - whether through system enhancements or process workarounds.
* Participate in workshops and meetings to gather requirements, review processes, and document proposed solutions clearly and accurately.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
* Build strong working relationships with Finance, Underwriting, Operations, IT, and other internal teams to ensure alignment and effective collaboration.
* Represent the Claims function in cross departmental projects, ensuring Claims requirements are understood and considered.
* Communicate clearly with stakeholders to support transparency, alignment, and shared understanding of process changes.
Additional Responsibilities
* Support the Claims Management Team with additional duties or projects as required.
* Contribute to wider organisational initiatives, gaining exposure to senior management, operational reporting, and technical project work.
What We're Looking For:
IPB values both your skills and experience. It is our preference that you can demonstrate the below attributes either as described or in a suitably equivalent manner:
* A relevant third-level qualification, which while not discipline specific should demonstrate an analytical and logical aptitude which could be as diverse as accountancy, engineering or business analysis.
* Experience in Insurance or Financial Services is not a pre-requisite; however, experience of a regulated environment is preferable.
* Proven experience in operational process improvement, systems optimisation, or cross-functional collaboration.
* Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools and Microsoft Office (including Excel, PowerPoint, and ideally Power BI).
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships.
