We are seeking an Electrician / Electrical Engineer to support Uisce Éireann's electrical inspection and remediation programme across its extensive site network. Working within the Asset Planning Maintenance Planning Team and reporting to the Senior Asset Planning Engineer, the successful candidate will contribute to the safe management of electrical systems across water and wastewater infrastructure. This opportunity sits within the utilities sector, supporting essential public infrastructure and focusing on electrical safety, compliance, and risk reduction across operational environments.
Role overview
As Electrician you will play a hands-on and technical support role in identifying, assessing, and helping address critical electrical risks across Uisce Éireann's portfolio of sites. The successful candidate will review inspection findings, provide technical input to site teams, and help shape mitigation actions that support safe and compliant operations.
The role will involve supporting an active programme of electrical inspection and remediation, including the review of periodic inspection reports, evaluation of remediation works completed by delivery partners, and engagement with operational and health and safety teams. The successful candidate will also support wider asset management and electrical systems planning activities, while contributing practical expertise to ongoing improvements in electrical strategy and compliance management.
Electrician Key Responsibilities
Provide technical assistance to on-site teams, including support through a call system to address issues as they arise
Review periodic inspection reports and other electrical documentation to identify risks to personnel and equipment
Review remediation works carried out by delivery partners to ensure appropriate standards are met
Assist Uisce Éireann in managing risks associated with electrical systems
Support compliance with relevant electrical regulations and legal requirements
Contribute to the ongoing development of Uisce Éireann's electrical systems strategy Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience
QQI Advanced Level 6 Electrical Trade Certificate
Must have been or currently be a Registered Electrical Contractor (REC)
Minimum 7 years' experience working with electrical systems
Expert knowledge of Electrical Safety Rules from IEC and EN Standards in accordance with Part 3 of the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 and other relevant legislation
Knowledge of water, wastewater, or other relevant industrial site environments
Full clean driver licence and willingness to travel nationally to Uisce Éireann sites
Previous experience using CMMS systems, including Maximo, is advantageous
Knowledge of CompEx relating to work with electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres is desirable
Ability to build strategic relationships and support cross-functional collaboration
Ability to promote change and continuous improvement
Capable of working with key teams to support and coach others in the development of technical skills
Strong problem-solving ability, including assessing information from multiple sources and making sound decisions
Proven experience managing complex issues proactively and in a timely manner
