This is an excellent opportunity to work in a leading hospital, providing high-quality patient care while contributing to the development of innovative medical practices in a supportive and progressive environment.This role is not a substantive post but will be a relatively long contract of 12 months with a view to going permanent.What’s on Offer for You?Basic Salary scale between €231,215 - €277,736 in accordance with the HSE 2023 Consultant contractAdditional remuneration for on-call duties and overtime as applicable depending on rota (up to €19,000)Highly flexible contract that enables consultants to explore a variety of different work patternsUp to €12,000 CME and €8,000 research grant30 days annual leave10 public holidaysContinuous Medical Education leaveHours: 37 hours per week, plus on-call supplementsKey ResponsibilitiesClinical DeliveryProvide perioperative anaesthetic care across surgical disciplinesLead assessment, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic pain conditionsProvide specialised clinics, interventions (e.g., nerve blocks), and pain treatment plansLeadership & GovernanceOversee or support the Chronic Pain Service and Pain Management programsEnsure high standards of care, clinical audit, and compliance with HSE policiesEducation & CollaborationWork closely with a multidisciplinary team—physiotherapists, psychologists, surgeons—to deliver holistic pain managementSupport and educate junior doctors, anaesthetic trainees, and other staffRequirements to ApplyFull registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) – Specialist Division in Anaesthesiology.
