Sous Chef Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef to lead our culinary team.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success as a Sous Chef or higher in a quality restaurant or hotel kitchen, with strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
* Support the Head Chef in the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen.
* Be actively involved in cooking, prep, and service during busy shifts.
* Maintain the highest standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation.
* Lead by example on the kitchen floor, training and mentoring junior chefs.
* Contribute ideas to menus and daily specials.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about food, creativity, and keeping up to date with modern culinary trends. They will also have excellent organisational and time-management skills, with great attention to detail, and the flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support the Head Chef in managing the kitchen team.
• Develop and implement new menu ideas and improve existing ones.
• Ensure high standards of food safety and hygiene practices are maintained at all times.
Essential Skills:
