Our client is a well-established financial services organisation with a mature Salesforce platform and an experienced internal team comprising a senior developer and a highly qualified architect. They are seeking a capable, hands-on Salesforce Developer to bolster technical delivery capacity and take ownership of day-to-day development activity. This is a mid-level role with real substance. The successful candidate will work closely alongside the senior developer and take direction from the Salesforce Architect, enabling the architect to step back from hands-on coding and focus on strategic and architectural priorities. You will be instrumental in keeping the development pipeline moving across both declarative and programmatic workstreams. The environment is structured, technically strong, and collaborative. This is not a role for someone who needs to be hand‑held - the client wants someone who can pick up a task, investigate it independently, and follow it through to resolution without constant oversight.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Build and maintain Lightning Web Component (LWC) solutions as a core part of daily work, writing, debugging, and deploying components without close supervision
Develop custom Apex code including triggers, classes, and batch processes with focus on code quality, testability, and adherence to governor limits
Design and maintain Salesforce Flows and declarative automation tools, knowing when to use declarative versus programmatic approaches
Work within Salesforce integration patterns, REST/SOAP APIs, and authentication mechanisms to troubleshoot and resolve integration issues
Investigate bugs, resolve platform issues, support deployments, and ensure development standards and governance protocols are followed consistently
Participate actively in technical discussions to understand requirements and translate them into effective solutions
Deliver against a live development pipeline in a structured financial services environment, managing workload independently
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Solid, practical Salesforce platform knowledge across both declarative and programmatic approaches
Hands‑on proficiency with Lightning Web Components (LWC) and Apex development
Confidence working with Flows, automation tools, and custom code solutions
Working understanding of Salesforce integrations, APIs, and authentication patterns (OAuth, Named Credentials)
Strong troubleshooting and debugging instincts with ability to investigate and resolve issues independently
Clear grasp of Salesforce security and sharing concepts including profiles, permission sets, sharing rules, and record access
Ability to slot into an existing team structure and governance model with minimal friction
Full‑time engagement | 6‑month contract | Reports to Salesforce Architect
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
Experience with Salesforce Financial Services Cloud (FSC)
Background in financial services, life and pensions, or wealth management
Familiarity with DevOps tooling - Copado, Gearset, or equivalent
Experience working within a formal change and governance process
TECHNICAL WORKSTREAMS
A key near‑term workstream involves tiering and relationship management functionality - this will require both technical build work and active participation in technical discussions to understand requirements and translate them into effective solutions. You will need to get up to speed quickly and demonstrate your capability early. Beyond specific projects, you will contribute to the overall health of the platform - investigating bugs, resolving issues, supporting deployments, and ensuring that development standards and governance protocols are followed consistently. This is as much about reliability and rigour as it is about technical flair.
TEAM DYNAMICS & CULTURE
The wider team dynamic matters. You will be working with experienced colleagues who have high standards and a clear vision for the platform. The ability to communicate clearly, ask the right questions, and demonstrate your thinking quickly will be just as important as what you can deliver in code. Formal certifications are desirable but will not be weighted above demonstrated, practical experience. A candidate who can clearly articulate how they have solved real problems on the Salesforce platform will be prioritised over one with a long list of badges but limited hands‑on depth.
