Systems Engineer/Linux Systems Engineer, Managed Operations
DESCRIPTION
AWS has launched the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC).
We seek experienced systems engineers with automation and operations background.
As part of AWS Managed Operations, you will build, operate, and evolve operations and development teams delivering high-availability AWS services (EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, Bedrock) exclusively for EU customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee ongoing operations and expansion of ESC, working with global AWS teams.
Collaborate with technology leaders to improve operations, availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency.
Participate in on-call rotations to resolve out-of-hours incidents.
Review operational health, identify anomalies, and craft bug reports.
Provide constructive feedback on change management documents and address team operational backlog.
Develop and test scripts to enhance workflows.
Educate service teams on complexities of ESC and share knowledge.
Root-cause issues and maintain 24x7 on-call responsibility.
ELIGIBILITY
Fluency in written and spoken English.
Must be a national of an EU member state and reside in the EU.
Amazon will provide relocation support within the EU.
Employees will participate in an on-call rota.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting or networking administration.
Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language.
Experience in systems engineering, site reliability engineering, building and operating systems at scale.
Ability to lead creation, revision, and improvement of SOPs and drive operational best practices.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with monitoring frameworks (CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic, etc.).
Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading cross-organisational team efforts.
Experience operating 24x7 high-availability distributed software applications and performance tuning.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc.).
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, Generative AI technologies, automated deployment, configuration management, continuous integration workflows, prompt engineering, model deployment, and AI-powered automation tools.
