Healthcare Catering Assistant – Tipperary
Excel Recruitment is currently recruiting reliable and experienced Healthcare Catering Assistants to provide cover across hospitals and nursing homes in Tipperary. This role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about food service within healthcare environments and who understand the importance of hygiene, patient care, and attention to detail.
Role Responsibilities
1. Assist with the preparation, plating, and service of meals for patients and residents
2. Ensure all meals meet prescribed dietary, nutritional, and allergen guidelines
3. Deliver meals to wards and resident areas in a timely and respectful manner
4. Maintain cleanliness across kitchens, dining rooms, and service areas
5. Wash dishes, utensils, and catering equipment as required
6. Adhere strictly to HACCP, food safety, and infection control procedures
7. Work collaboratively with catering teams and healthcare staff
8. Provide a courteous, professional, and compassionate service at all times
Candidate Profile
9. Previous experience in healthcare catering, hospital kitchens, or nursing home settings desireable
10. Strong knowledge of food hygiene and HACCP standards
11. Dependable, punctual, and professional in approach
12. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment
13. Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
14. Flexibility to work across a variety of shifts
15. Legal entitlement to work in Ireland
16. Garda Vetting required prior to placement
17. Willingness to complete mandatory healthcare training, including food safety, infection control, manual handling, safeguarding, and healthcare-specific procedures
Desirable Experience
18. HACCP or Food Safety certification
19. Manual Handling certification
20. Experience catering for special dietary requirements, including diabetic or texture-modified diets
