Realtime Recruitment is seeking a skilled Senior IT Operations Engineer for a permanent position. The Senior IT Operations Engineer leads the daily operations, performance, and security of IT infrastructure, applications, and support services. The role involves managing a Helpdesk team, overseeing cloud and on-prem environments, and supporting strategic technology initiatives across the business. This role is City Centre-based and is fully onsite. Responsibilities IT Operations & Infrastructure Manage IT systems, servers, networks, and storage (on-prem & cloud) Ensure high availability, security, and compliance (ISO, ITIL) Lead deployment of cloud solutions (Azure, AWS) and disaster recovery plans Applications & Support Oversee business applications and databases (SQL, Oracle, NoSQL) Manage 1st-3rd line Helpdesk for incident, request, and issue resolution Support updates, integrations, and performance improvements Stakeholder & Vendor Engagement Act as IT advisor to senior management Manage vendor relationships and SLAs Promote adoption of emerging technologies (AI, ML) Reporting & Intelligence Deliver performance and BI reports using tools like Power BI Champion data-driven decision-making and innovation Security & Risk Implement and monitor cybersecurity measures (SOC, Zero Trust) Manage identity systems (AD, Entra, Microsoft 365 tenancy) Assess and mitigate operational IT risks Required Skills 10+ years' extensive experience in IT infrastructure management, cloud solutions, and cybersecurity. A background in the logistics industry is highly advantageous. Degree in Engineering or Computer Science is a must-have, along with ITIL frameworks and ISO certification. Strong technical expertise in IT infrastructure and cloud environments (Azure, AWS) Proven experience in cybersecurity best practices and frameworks (NIS2, Zero Trust, firewalls) Skilled in database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, Oracle) and virtualisation (VMware, Nutanix) Proficient with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra, and hybrid Exchange environments Hands-on experience managing a multi-tier Helpdesk (1st-3rd line) and 24/7 operations Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Experience with SLA/vendor management Desirable: BI/reporting tools (Power BI, Power Query), SAN/storage knowledge, experience in logistics/marine transport, OT/sensor networks Please note: You must hold and EU passport to be considered for this position To hear more about this opportunity, contact Sue on or email your CV to Skills: Senior IT Operations
