Position Description
The Quantity Surveyor role within the Contracting Partners Group (CPG) of ESB Networks (ESBN) will encompass all aspects of quantity surveying and cost management for our full range of civil engineering and electrical projects, including high‑voltage electrical substation construction and refurbishment, trenching, ducting & cabling works, overhead lines, and supporting the tendering, evaluation and implementation of various framework contracts within CPG. The role will involve close liaison with Senior Quantity Surveyors, Framework Owners and other design professionals, clients and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
* Cost management function throughout all stages of a project, including preparation of estimates, bills of quantities, management of contractor payments, assessment of variations and agreement of final account.
* Preparation of framework tender documentation, involvement in pre‑qualification and tender evaluations, liaising with ESBN procurement function.
* Undertake site evaluations, commercial site audits and commercial awareness training of site personnel/project team members.
* Carry out data analysis on historic projects/work programmes to facilitate lessons learned and support budgeting information for future work programmes.
* Forecasting and monitoring of OPEX and CAPEX programmes.
* Promote the safety management culture across all activities, demonstrating visible commitment to safety.
* Ensure that quality procedures are implemented on all projects.
* Assist with mentoring and professional development of junior staff.
* Conduct tender assessments, evaluation, and negotiation, alongside report writing and interpretation.
Experience and Qualifications
* A Level 8 degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
* A minimum of 5 years (post‑qualification) relevant work experience in Quantity Surveying or equivalent is essential.
* Self‑motivation and ability to project‑manage own work and coordinate with those working alongside them.
* Ability to make quality decisions and judgments with a logical yet imaginative approach to problem solving.
* Ability to work and share knowledge and competencies within a team structure.
* A clear focus on delivery of high‑quality work.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a proven record of being results‑driven and customer‑oriented.
* Excellent report‑writing skills.
* Knowledge of the administration of main conditions of contract including FIDIC, GCCC, NECC or similar.
* Full clean EU driving licence and access to a car; flexible approach to work, including travel nationally as required.
Desirable
* Experience in Civil Engineering/Utility projects would be advantageous.
* Experience with SAP and Microsoft SharePoint.
* MRICS/MSCSI qualified, with legal registration under the Building Control Act 2007 is desirable.

Salary
€57,000 – €68,000 per annum
