Purpose of the Role:
The post holder will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, safe nursing service within the Directorate. They will lead and manage the current pillar structure of multiple medical day services and medical inpatient areas.
This role involves providing professional leadership to nursing staff at all levels, offering expert advice, and contributing to the development and implementation of nursing policy and strategy.
The post holder will ensure strategic objectives are achieved by advancing nursing roles which respond dynamically to patient needs and service priorities. In alignment with our Professional Practice Model and Pathway to Excellence standards, they will foster a culture of clinical excellence, shared decision making, and continuous professional development. They will champion the core values of nursing and this includes promoting evidence based practice, empowering nursing teams through collaborative leadership, and embedding a culture of respect, safety, and quality in every aspect of care delivery.
Working in close partnerships with the Clinical Director, Operations Manager, and ADON colleagues, the post holder will help shape the strategic direction of nursing services. They will ensure the service plays a key role in achieving corporate objectives and robust governance structures are in place and maintained.
Required:
* Registered General Nurse with The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
* At least 7 years of post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting within the last 9 years.
* A minimum of 4 years' management experience at CNM II level within the last 7 years
or
2 years' experience at CNM III grade within the past 4 years.
* A Master's Degree (completed or currently underway) in Healthcare Management, Leadership,
or
Operational Excellence.
* Proven knowledge and experience in risk management and quality improvement.
* Demonstrated ability to implement developments aligned with the strategic objectives of the organisation/IHA.
* Demonstrate experience in leading service developments and managing change initiatives.
* Demonstrate experience in establishing Integrated Care advanced practice roles.
* Demonstrate I.T. skills including excellent keyboard skills.
Desired:
* A postgraduate qualification (level 8 or higher on the National Framework of Qualifications {NFQ}) in a healthcare or management related field.
* Working knowledge of healthcare patient record systems.
* Demonstrate experience in nursing/MDT research and audit in line with local and national strategies.
