Peer Support Worker, Housing First, Dublin – Focus Ireland
Contract: Full Time Permanent contract
Location: Dublin
The Peer Support Worker is an individual with lived experience and a journey in receiving services and supports from homeless/housing service providers. The purpose of this role is to work as part of our team to provide additional support to teams and Housing First participants which includes community inclusion and participation, independence, recovery, and resiliency.

What You Will Do
* Adhere to the core values and principles of Housing First, as outlined in “A Housing First Manual for Ireland”, and work within the overall objectives of the Housing First Service.
* Engage actively with customers using a strengths‑based approach, promoting respect, diversity, and equal opportunities.
* Collaborate closely with Case Managers, the Housing First multidisciplinary team, and other service providers to ensure a coordinated, holistic support system that respects customer choice.
* Provide role modelling and share lived experiences to offer hope, encouragement, and foster community connection.
* Understand the impact of trauma on wellbeing and explore these experiences mutually with peers.
* Support individuals facing social exclusion, signposting or assisting them in accessing appropriate help and services.
* Use lived experience to inform team decision‑making, ensuring the customer’s voice and choices are central to service delivery.
* Participate in team meetings, supervision, reflective practice, and relevant training or professional development as organised by the manager.
* Work within Focus Ireland’s policies, procedures, strategy, values, and standards of best practice, supporting customer participation in the organisation.
* Maintain workplace safety, complete administrative tasks including database input, and carry out other duties reasonably assigned by the Line Manager.
What You Will Need
* Have a lived experience of homelessness, mental Health, or addiction.
* Be at least 2 years in abstinence based recovery if relevant.
* Relevant experience working in a team which shares a common goal.
* A working knowledge of issues affecting people out-of-home and their impact on people and their physical, emotional, and psychological well‑being.
* Be a good listener who is interested in others and what they have to offer.
* Treat others in a non‑judgemental way and with respect.
* Be committed and reliable.
* Be confident to speak about their own experiences for the purposes of supporting the customer’s and/or the team’s learning and development (Desirable)
* Have good written and verbal communication skills. (Desirable)
* Understand the importance of boundaries and be comfortable asking for support when needed. (Desirable)
* Be keen to learn new skills. (Desirable)
