Role Overview
CL Re is hiring an Executive Manager, International Markets to drive the expansion of its business in the Asia-Pacific region. CL Re is a leading provider of structured and asset intensive reinsurance solutions in the Asia-Pacific region with ambitious plans for further growth and this will be a key role in achieving those plans. Reporting to the Head of International Markets, the successful candidate will lead pricing teams in the structuring and underwriting of new reinsurance transactions.
What you will help us to achieve
* Lead the development and structuring of new bespoke reinsurance solutions which optimize regulatory capital for clients
* To lead the completion of new reinsurance transactions. These are highly complex and innovative transactions developed to meet a specific client requirement.
* To manage and grow relationships with potential and existing customers to ensure CL Re's new business targets are achieved
* To underwrite, price and recommend new transactions in line with group risk appetite, pricing, tax, capital and compliance requirements.
* To support the negotiations of commercial terms of new transactions. This includes negotiations with client executive management and their advisors and includes liaison with legal advisors on both sides.
* To manage transaction approvals and preparation of presentations for Senior Management, GWL Reinsurance Review and Executive Committees and the relevant Boards
* To support the development and growth of more junior team members
What you will need to be successful in the role
* An actuarial qualification with circa 10+ years post qualification experience
* Experience in structuring and managing complex reinsurance transactions or in valuing life insurance portfolios as part of M&A processes
* Demonstrated track record of carrying out due diligence on inforce portfolios including assessing the risk profile of the portfolio, reviewing and setting assumptions and analysing balance sheet and earnings projections
* Very good understanding of one or more regulatory frameworks for life insurance
* Strong numerical skills with a good understanding of financial metrics including IFRS17
* Ambitious, highly motivated with a strong commercial focus and desire to drive the business forward
* Excellent interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining good client and internal relationships
* Excellent oral & written communication/presentation skills with the ability to explain complex problems in a concise way
* The capacity to think creatively and develop new reinsurance solutions from first principles

This role is a 'controlled function' as defined by the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 Regulations 2011. Any appointment will be conditional on the company being satisfied that the appointee meets the requirements as set out in the Fitness and Probity standards issued by the Central Bank.
