Relief Social Care Assistant
Camphill Communities of Ireland are seeking to hire Relief Social Care Assistants. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking for a new challenge.
Purpose of Post
The post holder will actively ensure that the day-to-day operations of the Service reflect the ethos and vision of Camphill Communities of Ireland (CCoI) and that all co-workers meet the needs of the individuals supported. The appointed person will work as part of a support team, working intensively with individuals to discover what constitutes a good life for them and to establish necessary supports. Flexibility is required as support timing and location will depend on individual plans. The candidate should participate proactively in team activities and contribute to effective teamwork development.
1. Duties & Responsibilities
The Social Care Assistant shall be responsible for:
Advocacy & Rights
1. Respect each person who uses the services as an equal citizen.
2. Uphold and respect the human, legal, and constitutional rights of individuals, recognizing their individuality and empowering them to grow and achieve personal autonomy.
3. Facilitate, encourage, and develop the decision-making skills of service users.
4. Develop self-advocacy opportunities for individuals supported.
5. Enable individuals to pursue hobbies and interests.
6. Foster self-help and social skills for autonomy.
7. Support community participation using generic facilities.
Person-Centred Support for Living
Ensure a person-centred approach, supporting individuals with:
* Occupation and leisure activities
* Communication
* Behavior support plans
* Independent living skills
* Social integration
* Personal care
* Personal development
Assist in fostering self-care skills, support physical and personal care needs, attend medical appointments, promote healthy diet choices, and support community participation. Also, implement person-centred plans, ensure safety in transport, and participate in outings.
Management and Leadership
Be responsible for the well-being of individuals, safe use of equipment, adherence to policies, accurate record-keeping, reporting concerns, managing incidents, and efficient use of transport services.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Applicants must hold a QQI Level 5 Major Award or equivalent in Social Care, have at least 1 year's experience working with vulnerable adults, understand current policies, possess effective communication skills, IT proficiency, and a full driver’s license with own car.
