The Market and Sales Organisation

Pilz Ireland Industrial Automation prides itself on a superior reputation in the local market built on more than 25 years of delivering with excellence. We provide automation components, systems, professional services and solutions for the machinery and process industries driven by our passion and vision for compliance and safety and security. Our aim is to be a trusted partner to industrial companies building or using Automation and Machinery for use in process industries or discrete manufacturing.

We serve all markets where automation and machinery are used including Energy and Transport Infrastructure. Our primary market however is the manufacturing sector selling to

* Automation and Machinery OEM's, System Integrators and Panel Builders.

* Automation and Machinery End Users.

* Project Management and Engineering consultants.

* Distributors serving the automation and control market.

Our components and systems are sold primarily through the distribution channel while our Consulting, Engineering and Training Services are primarily through direct sales and key accounts.

Distribution Sales are led by our UK based Distribution Channel Manager supported by Cork based Internal Sales and Product Technical Support teams.

Our external sales personnel are expected to handle enquiries and generate leads from direct customers in both discrete manufacturing, process industry and infrastructure sectors for the total product services portfolio we assign leads as follow:

* Automation Components & Systems, All Sectors.

* Process Safety and Security Solutions / Process Industry.

* Machine Safety/Discrete Manufacturing.

Pilz Ireland Industrial Automation (Distribution) is a stand-alone company established in Ireland, P&L responsibility for the company is the responsibility of the Managing Director of Pilz UK & IE.

The Technical Sales Engineer will report to the Sales Team Leader located in Ireland and who in turn reports to the Sales Manager UK and Ireland.

The Role

Reporting to the Sales Team Leader Pilz Ireland Industrial Automation, your primary role will be to profitably drive increased market penetration and sales growth in Ireland.

* Increase business with our key our customers and prospects who have requirements for the Pilz automation components and systems portfolio.

* You will strengthen relationships and business with existing customers.

* You will develop and implement strategies for growth in our target market focusing on selected OEM's, system integrators and automation and machine end users.

Key Responsibilities

* Take responsibility for selected customers as defined by the Team Leader PIIA and Sales Manager UK to deepen and expand relationships thereby increasing revenues and profitability.

* Take responsibility for the complete customer lifecycle from opportunity identification to conversion to incoming orders and measures to increase Pilz share of wallet.

* Identify prospects and convert sales opportunities in agreed regions or sectors through successful promotion of Pilz products, solutions and services.

* Become knowledgeable about customer applications of Pilz Products & Services across our complete portfolio and become the customer applications expert for the sector.

* Identify prospects and opportunities and convert project sales opportunities with our product customers for engineering upgrade projects in the field of Machinery Safety, Process Safety and OT Security.

* Develop proposals and convert sales opportunities for automation systems and / or engineering projects from leads generated by our Machine and Process champions.

* Provide presales and post-sales support to selected customers in the Irish customer base.

* Become knowledgeable about customer applications of Pilz Products & Services across our complete portfolio and become the customer applications expert in for Pilz automation components and systems.

* Support the continued business development for our services and product portfolio.

* Become a champion within the Pilz Ireland market team for Pilz automation components and systems.

* Collaborate with Sales Manager, Team Leader, Distribution Channel Manager and other Pilz colleagues in marketing, sales and business development initiatives.

* Maintain concise, accurate and up to date information on accounts, contacts and opportunities using Pilz Customer Relationship Management "C4C" system.

* Generate sales reports as necessary, e.g. contacts, plans, competitor intelligence.

* Comply with relevant Pilz Ireland code of conduct, policies including Health & Safety, Security and GDPR.

The Person

* Demonstrated success in selling in the industrial automation sector.

* Proven ability in discussing technical as well as commercial related aspects of capital automation projects from shop floor to boardroom level with key project stakeholders including internal teams & colleagues.

* Be professional, persuasive, and confident in sales interactions.

* Have strong initiative and self-motivation to drive results.

* Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

* Full, clean Driving License.

* Willingness to travel throughout the island of Ireland with occasional travel to the UK and overseas with regular overnight stays.

Essential Criteria

* Experience in managing the full customer-facing organization including presales support, preparation of customer offers, order administration and customer support to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

* Demonstrated experience in managing multiple customer accounts.

* Hold a 3rd level qualification and/or have completed professional development in Sales or a business-related field.

* Knowledge of project engineering methodologies in the process industry and its relationship to the commercial aspect of project delivery.

* Knowledge of automation and control technology such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Control Switchgear, motion control, sensors and actuators, Safety Relays, Distributed Control Systems, Safe Automation Systems, PC based control systems and industrial security etc.

* Experience with machine systems, modern automation and robotics systems including de-centralised PLC control systems, robotic systems including collaborative robots.

* Demonstrated experience in managing multiple customer accounts in region of €2m p.a..

* Proven ability in discussing technical as well as commercial related and technical aspects of automation projects of project completion from shop floor to boardroom level with key project stakeholders including internal Teams & colleagues.

* Track record in setting and achieving demanding sales targets.

* Proficiency with typical IT applications and tools used to drive and monitor sales organizations.

Desired Criteria

* Be familiar with regulations and standards relating to Machinery related health and safety in industrial workplaces including ISO13849 and Machinery Directive.

* Experience with SAP based sales tools.

* Be familiar with industrial security vulnerability assessment and risk management technologies and methods.

* Hold a post graduate business or commercial related qualification.

* Have a strong contact base throughout the Pharmaceutical Bio-Pharmaceutical, Medical Technology, /Food & Beverage sectors in Ireland.

* Experience of working in diverse global environments.
