Our client, a manufacturing company based in Longford, seeks a Financial Accountant to support accurate financial reporting, effective controls, and strong commercial support across the organisation. The role focuses on core accounting functions, budgeting and audit processes, cash flow management, and financial analysis to aid operational and strategic decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month‑End Close
Prepare monthly management accounts including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports.
Complete balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records.
Perform variance analysis on financial and operational performance.
Accounts Receivable & Credit Control
Manage Accounts Receivable processes.
Process cash receipts and customer statements.
Maintain debt control procedures and follow up on overdue accounts.
Cash Flow & Banking
Monitor and manage company cash flows.
Maintain bank discounting controls and reconciliations.
Liaise with banking institutions regarding audits, facilities, and financial documentation.
Support leasing applications and financing requests.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
Assist in preparation and monitoring of sales and CAPEX budgets.
Review and assess new capital expenditure requests.
Maintain fixed asset registers and CAPEX tracking files.
Inventory & Operational Finance
Participate in stock review meetings related to slow‑moving stock and inventory levels.
Conduct material usage and variance analysis.
Tax, Grants & Compliance
Prepare and submit VAT returns.
Coordinate R&D tax claims and IDA grant applications, including Green, Lean, and Training grants.
Support compliance with internal controls and audit requirements across UK and Ireland operations.
Skills & Experience Required
Qualified/Part-qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent).
Experience in financial accounting and month‑end reporting.
Experience with budgeting, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
Knowledge of VAT, audit preparation, and financial compliance.
Advanced Excel skills.
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively across departments.
Experience in manufacturing or operational finance environments is advantageous.
