This will provide a unique opportunity for an ambitious individual to get involved across a wide range of activities as part of the day-to-day management of projects and teams.With an established shared service operation already in place, covering finance, HR, IT, commercial etc, the new operating division will be fully supported from day one.Reporting to the Operations Manager the Electrical Design Engineer will be instrumental in achieving our growth targets over the coming years.Responsibilities and DutiesThe specific responsibilities and duties of the role, outlined below, are intended as indicative (and not exhaustive):-Be the technical go to person within the new power division.Preparation of engineering drawings (overhead lines, trenching & ducting) that meet client needs and meet ESBN and/or EirGrid specifications.Carry out cable derating reports to meet ESBN and/or EirGrid specifications.Preparation of equipment specifications.Technical evaluation of equipment offers.Technical report writing.Logical and imaginative approach to problem-solving.Review and interpret client tender documents for high and medium voltage infrastructure projects.Develop complete and compliant technical and commercial submissions for transmission lines and grid connections.Prepare cost estimates, bill of quantities, and pricing strategies based on technical scope and project risk assessment.Support on site teams if any issues encountered during project delivery.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.Over 5 years of experience in design ranging from 10 kV to 220 kV.Knowledge of substation design, grid connections, renewable sector and wider utility sector.Knowledge of ESB and EirGrid standards, specifications and practices.Familiar with utility tendering processes and full project lifecycles.Project management experience.Proficiency in Eplan and AutoCAD 2D (desirable).Proficient in the latest software and tools including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project) and Sharepoint (Office 365).Strong understanding of utility standards and safety practices.Team player, committed to supporting and contributing in the overall team success.Full clean driver's licence - Ability to travel to project sites as required.Job Type: PermanentBenefits:Additional leaveBike to work schemeCompany pensionEmployee assistance programSick payWellness programWork from homeWork Location: Hybrid remote in Maynooth, Co Kildare, CO.
