Public Sector Infrastructure Specialist

This is a contract assignment with an initial period of 6–12 months, with opportunities for further duration extensions or permanency. The role is based in Trim, Co Meath, and involves working on behalf of a Public Sector Organisation.


Job Description:

The primary responsibility of the role is to perform drainage maintenance activities, including channel, embankment, and structure maintenance. This involves direct maintenance of 10 Arterial Drainage Schemes and 4 Flood Relief Schemes, covering 5,064km channel, 147km embankments, and circa 8,774 structures – bridges, sluices, pump-houses, etc.

The works labour team is responsible for construction activities, including earthen embankments, reinforced concrete walls, sheet piled retaining and defence walls, precast concrete culverts, bank protection, and erosion protection measures. Additionally, the role involves safety officer responsibilities, such as identifying hazards, assessing risks, and advising supervisors on control measures and systems of work to minimise risk.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

A Level 7 Qualification (National Framework of Qualifications) in Occupational Health and Safety is an essential minimum requirement. A Level 8 Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety is desirable (or equivalent). Candidates must have no less than 3 years of satisfactory experience in construction work and knowledge of construction methods, site management, and construction design process. Current Safe Pass Card and Valid driving licence are also required.

Candidates should possess a comprehensive knowledge of construction and general health and safety management systems (i.e. ISO 45001:2018). Computer literacy and necessary IT skills are also expected. High levels of interpersonal and communication skills are required for this role.
