The role
Quality Engineer – Burnfoot Plant
The Quality Engineer is responsible for driving prevention‑led quality assurance across the Burnfoot plant, ensuring that products, processes, and controls consistently deliver right‑first‑time execution for our customers. The role strengthens process discipline, reduces defects at source, improves RCCA/CAPA effectiveness, and embeds VOS (Vertiv's Operating System) and ISO 9001:2015 requirements into daily factory operations.
Responsibilities
Own daily process quality assurance activities within the factory, ensuring manufacturing controls, standard work, and process discipline are effectively implemented and followed.
Lead root‑cause investigations and corrective actions using 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, and other structured problem‑solving methodologies to reduce recurring defects and improve quality performance.
Conduct layered process audits, first‑off / first‑article verification activities, and support deviation control processes to ensure compliance with approved methods, specifications, and workmanship standards.
Use quality data, trends, and analysis to identify risks, drive continuous improvement activities, and support defect prevention initiatives.
Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Supplier Quality teams to resolve internal, customer, and supplier‑related quality issues.
Coach and support teams on quality standards, escalation processes, defect prevention, and adherence to standard work.
Support new product and process introduction activities by verifying readiness of documentation, controls, and manufacturing processes.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have experience within a manufacturing quality environment, strong problem‑solving skills, knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, and the ability to influence cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced setting.
Ideal Requirements
A four‑year degree in Engineering or a related field of study, or a minimum of four years of direct job experience in quality assurance, or a combination of the two.
Knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (8D, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, SPC, Root Cause Analysis).
Proficiency with word processing, relational database, data analysis, spreadsheet, planning, and desktop publishing programs and software.
Knowledgeable and proficient with various data analysis and problem‑solving techniques.
Skilled in interpersonal skills and communications, including presentations to groups of various sizes and levels within the organization.
Valid driver's license required; ability and willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally as needed.
