C3 2021 Job Title: Global Citizenship Education Schools Officer (Maternity Cover) Reports to: Schools Programme Manager, Head of Global Citizenship Terms:10 month,Fixed-Term, Full time, Hybrid model Salary: GB5 / €47,539 - €52,821 Requirements: Available to work occasional unsocial hours & travel to in-person workshops & events across ROI/NI. Occasional overnight stays will be required, a full/clean driver's license is needed. Role Purpose: As a vibrant member of the Global Citizenship (GC) team, you will engage post-primary students (aged 12-18) and teachers in Concern's Global Citizenship Education programme. You will facilitate workshops for students at junior cycle, TY and senior cycle levels as well as hosting Concern's week-long student work experience programme, contribute to developing age-appropriate GCE resources and other tasks as set out below. Responsibilities: The Concern Schools Programme involves over 500 primary and post primary schools on an annual basis. Alongside colleagues on the Schools Team, the GCE Schools Officer will: Plan and deliver high quality in-school talks and workshops on themes such as hunger, conflict, climate justice and gender inequality using active learning and student-centered methodologies Take a lead in the organisation and delivery of Concern's "TY Academy" work experience programme, "Speak Act Do" and other external GCE programmes supported by Concern Support the Concern Debates programmes (primary and post-primary) by leading in-person training workshops and offering occasional adjudication support Be a support to teachers engaged in GCE by facilitating or contributing to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) workshops and training sessions Research and develop educational resources that support the post-primary curriculum focused on relevant global development themes Manage relationships with school networks, individual schools, teachers, parents and young people At a sectoral level, engage with colleagues in GCE partner organisations, consortia groups and networks. Communications and Performance Measurement Coordinate the production of the teacher e-newsletters Support the production of social media content for the GC team Use Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning tools to measure the outcomes of the programme for inclusion in reports as well as ongoing planning and development purposes. Teamwork, compliance and values Actively contribute to the work of the Concern Debates programmes (primary and post-primary) and work of the Campaigns Team, as well as engage with colleagues in the International Advocacy team, Strategy Advocacy and Learning Directorate and staff across the organisation Ensure full compliance with Concern's Child Safeguarding policy, GDPR requirements, Garda Vetting, as well as IDEA and Dchas Codes Uphold and promote Concern's values, including our workplace equality, diversity and inclusion values Liaise closely with other parts of the organisation to ensure Concern's work is communicated effectively. Role Holder Requirements: A third level qualification and experience in education or youth work, or significant Global Citizenship Education facilitation experience A full, clean driver's license Demonstrable knowledge/experience of the post-primary education sector and curriculum Knowledge of international development and/or sustainable development Experience working directly with teachers and/or youth workers Experience in producing educational resources Experience working as an effective and productive member of a team Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation) Excellent Microsoft Office skills Availability to work occasional unsocial hours and travel to all parts of ROI/NI Desirable: a qualification in Global Citizenship Education or an area related to international development.
