A panel may be created for Speech & Language Therapist Staff Grade from which current
and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full time or part time duration may
be filled.
Individual sites / location will be indicated at expression of interest stage to panel members
for each individual job.
All applicants will be given the opportunity, at the time of application, to indicate an IHA
preference area.

* HSE Dublin South and Wicklow
Candidates successful at interview will be placed on the regional panel in order of merit.
Where vacancies arise, posts will be expressed to the panel as follows:
* IHA Preference Area
Vacancies will initially be expressed to candidates who have selected the IHA preference
area in which the vacancy arises, in order of merit.
* Regional Panel
Where a vacancy remains unfilled, an expression of interest will then be issued to the full
regional panel, in order of merit, regardless of IHA preference
The role of Speech & Language Therapist Staff Grade is a key role in both community and
acute health services in Ireland. Speech & Language Therapy services take place in both
community and acute settings throughout the HSE.

Post specific related information
Speech & Language Therapists who work with people with feeding, eating, drinking and
swallowing difficulties must hold a dysphagia qualification or equivalent as outlined in
"Standards of Practice for Speech & Language Therapists on the Management of Feeding,
Eating, Drinking and Swallowing Disorders (Dysphagia)", Irish Association of Speech &
Language Therapists (IASLT) 2007.
Please note some posts provide a dysphagia service and therefore only Speech and
Language Therapists with a Dysphagia qualification can be appointed to these posts. This

requirement will be indicated at job offer stage. Please indicate in your application form if
you have undergone or are currently undergoing Dysphagia training.
Please note that certain posts may include post specific requirements, which may
vary by IHA area. Some other posts may require the appointee to have specific
experience. Any such requirements will be clearly highlighted to candidates (where
applicable)
