STAFF NURSE CORONARY CARE UNIT (CCU) Permanent Contract, Full Time Hours The Staff Nurse CCU will be professionally accountable to the Director of Nursing or designated officer, and will report to the Clinical Nurse Manager 3 or designated officer. Responsibilities: Practice nursing care safely and effectively fulfilling her/his professional responsibility within her/his scope of practice. Display evidence-based clinical knowledge in making decisions regarding client care. Demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development. Demonstrate evidence of effective planning and organizing skills. Demonstrate the ability to build and maintain relationships including the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrate a commitment to providing a quality service. Practice nursing according to the Code of Professional Conduct as laid down by the Nursing Board (An Brd Altranais/NMBI) and Professional Clinical Guidelines (local and national). Adhere to national, regional and local Mercy University Hospital guidelines, policies, protocols and legislation. Work within their scope of practice and take measures to develop and maintain the competence necessary for professional practice. Maintain a high standard of professional behaviour and be accountable for their practice. Deliver the nursing care of an assigned group of patients within a best practice / evidence-based framework. Manage a designated caseload. Have expertise on cardiac related illness/disease. Recognize life threatening and non-life threatening arrhythmias both within CCU and on telemetry monitoring systems. Demonstrate expertise in the nursing assessment and management of emergency cardiac admissions and acutely ill cardiac patients. Take responsibility for own competency and learning and development needs and actively contribute to the learning and development of the interdisciplinary team. Complete all mandatory training as deemed necessary by the Director of Nursing and ABA/NMBI. Participate in clinical governance structures within the local/regional/national clinical governance framework. Contribute to ongoing monitoring, audit and evaluation of the service as appropriate. Ensure that records are safeguarded and managed as per Mercy University Hospital policy and in accordance with relevant legislation. Adhere to all hospital policies and guidelines associated with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Eligibility Criteria: Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses kept by An Bord Altranais/Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)or be entitled to be so registered. Have the clinical and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role. Post graduate qualification in CCU nursing is desirable. Experience in working in a cardiac care setting is desirable. Be competent in ECG/telemetry interpretation or willing to undertake study for same.
