The successful candidate will work along side the farm manager to ensure the smooth running of our sprout farm on a day-to-day basis. They will need to be able to work alongside a team as well as working well alone and use their initiative. They will need to have a strong work ethic and take pride in the items they produce. In return you will be working with a team of passionate people in a growing food company.
It is important to note that as our Sprout Farm is a fast-paced, busy, operational facility. This role may require physical exertion at times, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and performing other tasks in a dynamic work environment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Following procedures for opening, normal daily operation and shut down of shift.
* Efficient germinating of all crop batches.
* Efficient watering and harvesting of all crop batches
* Ensure compliance with the company's cleaning and hygiene standards at all times.
* Ensure all equipment and shelving units are cleaned to the required standards and maintain the cleanliness of the production area and growing rooms at all times.
* Ensure that traceability and hygiene records for the Production area are kept up to date and make the farm manager aware if you have any concerns.
* Strive to constantly improve our production process.
* Support the training of new staff members to always maintain compliance with cleaning and hygiene standards.
* Working alongside the Farm Manager to make sure that each production day is run as efficiently as possible.
Essential Criteria
* Be a people person, who is friendly and open, hardworking and efficient.
* Flexibility to work both midweek and weekends.
* Comfortable to work alone as well as part of a team.
* Have excellent attention to detail.
* Passionate about production of healthy food.
Desirable Criteria:
* Previous experience in an organic farming environment
* Organic farming knowledge
* Strong written and oral communication skills
