This role is ideal for an experienced systems professional ready to lead technical initiatives, drive operational excellence, and opportunity to grow as team lead.This role is hands-on and operationally focused, with leadership and mentoring responsibilities. It does not carry the full strategic or executive remit of people manager but is pivotal in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of Scorebuddy’s systems and infrastructure.Key ResponsibilitiesSystems & Infrastructure Management: Deploy, configure, and maintain IT systems in Linux (Debian preferred) and Windows environments, including Kubernetes (K8s) clustersManage and optimise cloud infrastructure, with a focus on AWS (Azure knowledge advantageous)Oversee database systems: MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB (NoSQL)Security & MonitoringImplement and enforce cybersecurity measures, including disaster recovery planning and incident responseMonitor system performance and reliability using ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) and TIGK (Telegraf, InfluxDB, Grafana, Kapacitor) stacksEnsure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., ISO-27001, SOC-2) and maintain audit readinessAutomation & DevOpsDevelop and maintain automation scripts and workflows using Terraform and AnsibleImplement and manage CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins and GitHub ActionsFoster a DevOps culture, promoting best practices for automation and deploymentTeam Leadership & CollaborationMentor junior and mid-level system administrators, supporting their professional developmentCollaborate with development, product, and IT teams to deliver infrastructure projects and innovative solutionsMaintain comprehensive system documentation and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for critical incidentsWhat are we looking forRequired5+ years in system administration or IT operations, with strong Linux (Debian preferred) expertiseBSc/MSc in Computer Science, IT Management, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experienceProficiency in cloud services, particularly AWS; Azure or Google Cloud knowledge is a plusExperience managing SQL (MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databasesAdvanced scripting skills: Bash (essential), Python and PowerShell (advantageous)Expertise in Terraform and Ansible for automationFamiliarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and DevOps practicesStrong troubleshooting skills and networking knowledgeExperience with Git and distributed team workflowsExcellent communication and time management skillsNice to haveExperience with Kubernetes and Windows environmentsKnowledge of ELK and TIGK stack monitoring toolsFamiliarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)Programming experience in PHP, Go, or PythonWhat we offer25 paid holidays annuallyCompetitive salary and performance-based compensation planHybrid working modelGym Membership (taxable benefit)Access to Webdoctor, an online GP service (post-probation)Taxsaver.ie and Cycle to Work SchemeReferral Bonus: €1,000 for referring a successful candidate (paid after 6-month probation)Enhanced maternity and paternity leave and sick payAccess to Irish Life PRSA with salary sacrifice optionsLocationThe Masonry, 151 Thomas Street, Dublin 8We support hybrid working, with a minimum of two days per week in the office.Recruitment Agency assistance not required
