Health and Safety Specialist - Cork - Critical role urgently required for an expansion project within Pharmaceutical Manufacturing.
This role will suit someone with prior hands-on experience in Health and Safety from a construction perspective.
Pharmaceutical, Oil and Gas, and Construction experience is ideal.
All candidates must hold a valid working visa for Ireland.
Role:
Under the direction of the IRL/UK Construction Safety Lead, the Senior Safety Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
* Lead the implementation of construction safety strategy across the project lifecycle,
* Review of the Construction and Commissioning & Quality HSE-plans;
* Review of project-specific work permits and Safe Plan of Action (SPA), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and/or Task Risk Assessments (TRA);
* Support/advise the project manager during all phases of the project in relation to the project safety performance (leading and lagging indicators);
* Coach/support the EPCM safety professional;
* Coach/support the contractors;
* Roll out/implement the safety incentive plan;
* Participate in the EHSE checklist review;
* Participate in the constructability reviews;
* Track safety statistics and initiate improvement plans if needed;
* Monitor and Evaluate the EPCM Safety Performance against Project Plan and identify improvements as required;
* Establish relationships with client and local team;
* Lead and/or support incident investigations.
Desired skills & experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field of education;
* At least five years of experience in a comparable environment (pharmaceutical, oil and gas, and/or food industry);
* Proven construction safety management excellence, demonstrated over multiple assignments;
* Knowledge of Pharmaceutical product development and manufacturing facilities and plant operations are highly desirable;
* Subject Matter Expert in respect to safety;
* Familiar with MS Office;
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
