The Contracts Manager will play a pivotal role in managing the full contract lifecycle for our electrical projects.
You will be responsible for reviewing, negotiating, and administering contracts, ensuring compliance with terms, and mitigating legal and financial risks.
You will serve as the key liaison between our project management teams, clients, subcontractors, and legal counsel, ensuring all contractual matters are handled professionally and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities: Contract Administration Management: Review, draft, analyze, and negotiate a variety of contracts including client agreements, subcontractor agreements, vendor agreements, NDAs, and change orders.
Administer contracts from award through project closeout, ensuring all parties meet their obligations.
Manage the process for contract variations, claims, and change order documentation, ensuring proper justification, pricing, and approval.
Maintain a centralized contract repository and tracking system for all active contracts, insurance certificates, and bonds.
Risk Management Compliance: Identify, assess, and mitigate contractual, financial, and legal risks associated with project deliverables, payment terms, warranties, and indemnities.
Ensure all contracts comply with company policies, industry standards, and relevant laws (e.g., lien laws, prompt pay acts).
Oversight of insurance and bonding requirements for the company and subcontractors.
Collaborate with the Project Management and Safety teams to ensure contract terms related to safety, quality, and schedule are fulfilled.
Commercial Support Dispute Resolution: Work closely with estimators and project managers during the bid phase to review contract terms and conditions.
Provide guidance on contractual interpretation to project teams.
Assist in the preparation and defense of claims and in the resolution of disputes through negotiation or formal processes.
Monitor project financials against contract terms, including billing schedules, retention, and milestone payments.
Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for contractual communications with clients and subcontractors.
Build strong working relationships with internal teams (Operations, Finance, Legal, Preconstruction) and external partners.
Prepare and present regular reports on contract status, risks, and issues to senior management.
Qualifications Experience Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Law, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a contracts management, commercial management, or similar role within the electrical contracting or general construction industry .
Proven experience drafting, negotiating, and administering complex construction contracts.
In-depth knowledge of standard construction contract forms and key concepts (scope, schedule, price, warranties, indemnification, limitation of liability).
Strong understanding of construction law, risk allocation, and dispute resolution procedures.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills (written and verbal).
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and contract management software.
