What you'll doProduce and maintain high-quality 2D manufacturing drawings from 3D models in SolidWorks for complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, and opto-mechanical hardware.Lead the development and enforcement of drawing standards including title blocks, dimensioning practices, symbology, notes, and revision control processes.Apply GD&T at an expert level to ensure drawings clearly communicate design intent, functional requirements, and inspection criteria.Own the drawing review and release process, ensuring all drawings meet company standards prior to approval and manufacturing release.Assist in administration of PDM.Take responsibility for design and implementation of precision tooling and ground support equipment.Perform drawing reviews for tolerance schemes, datum structures, interfaces, fastener callouts, and part identification.Establish templates, libraries, and drawing conventions that enable consistent output across the organisation.Support configuration management by generating accurate Bills of Materials and managing drawing revisions and change requests within controlled workflows.Participate in root-cause reviews where manufacturing or inspection issues trace back to drawing clarity or interpretation.Improve documentation processes and tools as the company scales from development to production.Who you are5+ years professional experience producing manufacturing drawings for mechanical hardware.A highly experienced drawing and CAD/PDM technician.Meticulous, detail-oriented and uncompromising on drawing quality and correctness.Confident challenging engineers when a drawing is unclear, incorrect or incomplete.Organised, process-driven and comfortable working within quality and configuration control systems.Able to communicate clearly with engineers, machinists, inspectors and suppliers.Comfortable owning the drawing system for multiple projects simultaneously.Motivated by turning complex designs into elegant, unambiguous manufacturing instructions.Skilled in translating operations and optical AIT needs into precision tooling, jigs, and ground support equipment.
