Ergo IT Recruitment is seeking a Microsoft SQL Server Expert for an initial 6 month contract role with a large public sector client based in Dublin city Centre.The successful candidate will be an expert in their field with strong demonstrable experience in both Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework and the Well-Architected Framework and have a proven track record of reviewing systems, suggesting improvements, and successfully putting those changes into action.What will you do?Work in collaboration with the security team in managing and securing SQL Server environments.Manage SQL Server environments for performance, availability, resilience, and capacity across Local AuthoritiesAdminister Azure SQL platforms and services including Azure Functions, App Services, Logic Apps, and Key VaultImplement and oversee database encryption, audit trails, and security forensics (TDE, SSL, Always Encrypted)Ensure high availability through clustering, replication, and disaster recovery strategiesDesign and manage backup, archiving, storage, and alerting systems including SAN integrationWhat do you need?A degree in IT or Computer ScienceSQL certification e.g. Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst AssociateAt least 15 years of experience as a Database administrator/developer and strong experience in managing large, complex SQL environmentsDeep knowledge of SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure VMsStrong experience in the management of database availability and performance, resilience, sizing, capacity and volumetric for all SQL environments.Experience in managing Windows Server operating systems in both physical and virtual environments.Public sector experience would be advantageousAbility to work onsite in Dublin 3 days per weekBe able to commence work in December/January 2026
