Key Responsibilities
* Purchasing Process Management
* Review material requisitions from Site Managers/Engineers.
* Source and compare competitive supplier quotes.
* Prepare price comparisons for approval.
* Issue and track Purchase Orders, ensuring accurate details and communication with site teams.
* Supplier Management
* Build and maintain a reliable supplier database.
* Monitor supplier pricing, service, and performance.
* Develop strong supplier relationships to ensure best value.
* Delivery & Material Verification
* Confirm materials meet order requirements in quality, quantity, and timelines.
* Liaise with site teams to verify deliveries and address discrepancies.
* Invoice and Document Reconciliation
* Match delivery notes, POs, and invoices.
* Flag and resolve discrepancies before submission to Accounts.
* Maintain accurate audit trails for all purchases.
* Material Coding and Budget Tracking
* Apply material codes for cost tracking per project.
* Support Commercial Team in budget alignment and reporting.
* Purchasing Strategy and Continuous Improvement
* Identify cost-saving opportunities and monitor market trends.
* Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency.
* Ensure purchasing aligns with company procedures and project delivery timelines.
Qualifications and Experience
* Previous purchasing experience, ideally in construction or a related industry.
* Knowledge of building materials, logistics, and site operations.
* Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
* Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
Desirable Attributes
* Experience in the Irish construction sector.
* Familiarity with regulated/public works purchasing.
* Relevant professional body membership or certification.
* Understanding of sustainable purchasing practices.
