Job Title: Network Engineer
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and technically curious Network Engineer to join our infrastructure team based in central Belfast.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone with a solid grounding in network technologies and operations, eager to expand their skills in a collaborative, high-performance setting.
You will play a key role in monitoring network health, assisting with infrastructure projects, and contributing to documentation, recovery testing, and security planning.
Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor and assess network performance, availability, and latency across key systems.
* Provide Level 1 support for connectivity issues involving external partners and internal users.
* Offer support to on-site and co-located clients, addressing both routine and urgent issues.
* Assist in the setup, testing, and documentation of disaster recovery procedures.
* Collaborate on the rollout and implementation of new networking solutions.
* Help manage access controls, user account configurations, and permissions across systems.
* Track support activity through a ticketing platform, escalating more complex issues where needed.
* Participate in the ongoing refinement of security configurations and monitoring practices.
* Provide ad hoc IT support to local teams, including hardware troubleshooting and basic systems support.
* Support remote communications and troubleshooting via email, messaging, and calls.
Desired Skills & Experience:
* Degree in Networking, Computing, IT Systems, or a related technical discipline.
* 1-3 years of hands-on experience in network administration or operations support.
* Familiarity with core networking principles (e.g. routing, switching, subnets, firewalls, VPNs).
* Exposure to hardware from vendors such as Cisco, Arista, or Palo Alto is advantageous.
* Understanding of cloud-based networking environments is a plus.
* Strong troubleshooting capabilities with an analytical approach to diagnosing technical issues.
* Experience with tools for monitoring, documentation, and user management.
* Certifications (such as CCNA or similar) are beneficial but not required.
* Familiarity with multicast, enterprise backup tools, or NOC environments is a bonus.
* Effective communicator with the ability to work independently and as part of a global team.
* Comfortable balancing day-to-day technical tasks with longer-term project involvement.
