A new public health gallery
RCSI’s new public health gallery is a flagship public engagement facility located in 118 St Stephen’s Green, a striking new building which writes the latest chapter of our historic story in the heart of Dublin. Due for completion in late 2025, 118 St Stephen’s Green is an 8-storey €95 million project that will transform and enrich students’ learning experience and provide vital infrastructure for our pioneering health-sciences research and innovation. In the entrance foyer of the building, with views onto St Stephen’s Green, the gallery is RCSI’s first purpose-built public space, welcoming people in to join a shared culture of learning, innovation and creativity. Through a rolling programme of exhibitions, events and online activities, the gallery will be a place for everyone to join conversations about living longer, healthier and happier lives.
Gallery Production Manager
As Gallery Production Manager, you will play a crucial role in a small team. Your skills in project planning and delivery and logistical management will underpin the gallery’s rolling programme of exhibitions and events to create a vibrant visitor offer.
Programme Management and Operations
* Project management of temporary exhibitions, immersive installations or events, from concept design, formative evaluation and delivery to operations and summative evaluation.
* Planning and oversight of exhibition construction (on-site or off-site), installation, operations and deinstallation. The space is approximately 250m2 and it is envisaged that modular reusable structures will be used to ensure a more sustainable approach. There will be a large digital screen in the space.
* Management of and acting as first point of contact for contractors (for example including Design, Fitout, AV)
* Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and best practice, and all necessary permits and licences
* Supporting project content teams to create a compelling storytelling environment
* Liaison with external stakeholders including object lenders, artists, and partner organisations
* Liaison and coordination with RCSI teams including representatives of Schools and Research Departments, Estates & Support Services, IT Department, Communications and Events, Marketing Departments and the Library Department
* Management of project documentation including project initiation documents, risk registers, object and artwork loan records, partnership agreements and O&M manuals
* Management of the gallery store
Financial and Resource Management
* Working with the Gallery Director, setting and managing budgets for each project as part of the wider programming budget
* Managing project cost plans for each design stage, regularly monitoring and reviewing costs to ensure that exhibitions are delivered within budget
* Managing project programmes, critical paths, and risk registers
* Managing procurement processes in line with RCSI procedures
General Duties
* Acting as a Gallery Duty Manager on a rota basis
* Supporting the Gallery Director in long-term planning of the programme
* Deputising for the Gallery Director as necessary
* Supporting the Digital Content Producer and other team members
* Management of gallery staff and volunteers as required
* Development of sustainable practices for exhibition production
* Acting as an ambassador for the Gallery and Public Engagement activities in RCSI and externally.
* Performing such other duties as may be required from time to time
* Undertaking other appropriate duties as assigned by the Gallery Director or nominee
* Complying with statutory legislation and gallery rules and requirements in furtherance of your own and general staff and student welfare and safety
* Undergoing programmes of training and development as may be required
* Representing the best interests of the Gallery/RCSI at all times
Qualifications – (Desirable):
* Professional qualifications in project management, for example PMP, Prince 2, IOSH.
Knowledge & Experience – (Essential):
* Strong experience of managing and delivering exhibitions in public venues such as galleries, museums, heritage sites and tourist attractions
* Experience of managing consultants and contractors
* Experience of budget management
* Knowledge of procurement processes
* Knowledge of health and safety legislation and systems of management
* High level of proficiency of Microsoft Office, and project management software
* Experience of managing a complex workload in a dynamic and changing environment
* Experience of line management or mentoring staff
* An interest in medicine and health sciences

The role is based at RCSI at St Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2. We operate a hybrid working policy but please note that during certain periods, for example exhibition install and decant, full-time attendance onsite is likely to be required.
Travel within Ireland and internationally may be required as necessary.
