Overview
John Sisk & Son are seeking a Finishing Foreman for an existing project located in Ringsend, Dublin 4. This will be on a temporary basis for 3-6 months.
The General Foreman reports to the Contracts Manager and collaborates closely with the Quantity Surveyor. They are responsible for managing the onsite programme concerning delivery, workmanship, and safety. The General Foreman ensures that adequate labour, plant, materials, and subcontractor resources are available to meet the contract requirements and align with company policies.
Responsibilities
* Establish and monitor key stage programmes.
* Set up the site and maintain site security, including site hutting, hoardings, and signboards to ensure a tidy and professional appearance.
* Take possession of the site, plan, and coordinate trades activities.
* Apply for temporary service connections.
* Interpret drawings and specifications, and communicate directions to site personnel, subcontractors, and suppliers.
* Ensure that method statements and risk assessments (RAs) are completed for high-risk activities.
* Request outstanding information from the professional team and confirm all verbal instructions.
* Assist in obtaining necessary approvals to progress the project without risks (e.g., Hoarding Licence).
* Review buildability and identify methods of construction that offer commercial or programme advantages where possible.
* Implement environmental controls in collaboration with the Environmental Co-ordinator, working towards the objectives set out in the HSE plan (Civils).
* Attend site, subcontractor, and internal meetings, maintaining and circulating notes and action points.
Experience
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to interact effectively with colleagues, clients, and third parties, adapting style to suit the audience.
* A proven track record of at least ten years in a construction management environment with a similar national or regional contractor.
* Strong analytical skills.
* Organized with good time management and proactive planning abilities.
Qualifications
* First Aid at Work certificate.
* IOSH or equivalent H&S management training.
* Training in Temporary Works & Excavation Safety.
* Permitting requirements for live energy works (in conjunction with Site & Safety Management).
* Working at Heights & Scaffolding.
* Lifting & Cranage operations.
* Other HSEQS training as per site HSE plan.
