The Role
This is a 3–4 years post-qualification engineering role focused on energy optimisation, utilities performance, and sustainability project delivery. You will support the identification, development, and implementation of improvement initiatives, working closely with Operations, Engineering, and site stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Energy & Carbon
Support the development and implementation of the site’s energy efficiency and carbon reduction roadmap
Identify and assess energy-saving and renewable technologies for site application
Contribute to the delivery of energy optimisation projects and action plans
Monitor and analyse energy performance for Significant Energy Users (SEUs)
Support energy measurement and verification activities
Provide input into operational decisions to maintain energy and carbon performance
Utilities & Water
Support delivery of the site water intensity reduction roadmap
Track water usage and utilities performance across key processes
Assist in identifying and delivering water conservation projects
Monitor and support optimisation of steam, compressed air, and water systems
Support boiler efficiency monitoring and steam optimisation initiatives
Assist with optimisation activities for operations of the Wastewater Treatment Plant
Key Deliverables
Measurable improvements in energy, water, and utilities performance
Timely delivery of assigned optimisation projects
Accurate performance data for internal and external reporting
Contribution to ISO 50001 certification maintenance
Weekly and monthly performance updates to site stakeholders
Support sustainability, regulatory, and corporate reporting (CSRD, EU ETS, EPA)
What We’re Looking For
Essential
Degree in Engineering (Process, Mechanical, Energy, or similar)
3–4 years’ experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Exposure to energy, utilities, or process optimisation
Strong analytical and data handling skills
Familiarity with energy or utilities monitoring systems
Good working knowledge of ISO 50001 and ISO 14001
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Desirable
Experience with steam systems or utilities optimisation
Exposure to sustainability or decarbonisation projects
Experience supporting audits or regulatory reporting
