A fantastic and hugely exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and ambitious individual for the Operations Engineer role within the Pharm Ops Integrated Process Team (IPT) at our Small Molecule Commercialisation Site. As part of the Pharm Ops IPT team, the Operations Engineer will act as the primary production planner, ensuring efficient and compliant execution of manufacturing schedules to meet customer demand, inventory targets, and site capacity.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining and optimising short-term and long-term production schedules in Pharm Ops & B-Con OSD to meet customer demand, inventory targets, and site capacity. They will coordinate with cross-functional teams (Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Engineering) to ensure schedule adherence and timely resolution of constraints, monitor and adjust schedules in response to unplanned events (e.g., equipment downtime, material shortages) while minimising impact on delivery commitments.
The successful candidate will possess strong communicating skills, an understanding of scheduling principles, capacity planning, and inventory management, the ability to interpret production data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions, Experience with SAP or similar systems for planning and materials management and a commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

* The Operations Engineer, as a member of the IPT team, is accountable for achieving business results for the IPT in line with overall plant goals.
* Overall responsibility for developing, maintaining and optimising short-term and long-term production schedules in Pharm Ops & B-Con OSD to meet customer demand, inventory targets, and site capacity.
* Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Technical) to ensure schedule adherence and timely resolution of constraints.
* Ensures timely availability of raw materials, intermediates, and packaging components for scheduled production.
* Tracks and reports key scheduling metrics (e.g., schedule adherence, cycle times, throughput).
* Analyses production capacity and resource availability to identify bottlenecks and propose solutions.
* Support scenario planning for new product introductions, campaigns, and technology transfers.
* Partner with IPT Team to identify areas to drive initiatives to streamline scheduling processes, reduce lead times, and improve overall efficiency.
What skills you will need:
In order to excel in this role, you will more than likely have:
* Degree in Engineering or Science.
* Pharmaceutical manufacturing and/or engineering experience.
* Has experience of guiding a team, including indirect management of others.
* Demonstrated knowledge of Operational Excellence & Asset Reliability Principles.
* Experience in analysing production capacity and resource availability to identify bottlenecks and propose solutions.
* Preferred experience in Automation Control Systems, Batch Recipes, Manufacturing Execution System elements such as Electronic Work Instructions, Equipment Tracking Systems and Material Tracking.
* Preferred experience in Strategy Development, Financial Acumen, Leadership.
* Preferred experience of Oral Solid Dose Unit Operations (Dispensing, Roller compaction).
* Compression, Coating.
