Our client is a leading Irish contractor delivering high-value electrical projects across sectors including data centres, pharmaceutical, healthcare, semiconductor, and commercial developments. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Electrical Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.
Role Overview
The Electrical Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for cost management, procurement, and commercial control of electrical packages on large-scale projects. The role requires strong technical knowledge of electrical systems and proven experience in measurement, cost planning, and procurement.
Responsibilities
Carry out measurement and take-offs for:
Cable containment systems from layouts
Electrical services (lighting, fire alarm, small power, etc.)
MV and LV cable from schematic drawings
Assist in the preparation of project cost estimates and budgets
Support procurement activities, including purchasing:
Electrical materials (containment, cabling, lighting)
Major equipment (generators, MV/LV switchgear, UPS systems)
Contribute to commercial management of projects, ensuring cost efficiency
Liaise with project teams, suppliers, and subcontractors
Support delivery of projects in line with budget, quality, and programme targets
Qualifications
Degree in Engineering (Electrical or related discipline)
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
Experience working on projects valued at €5m+
Experience across one or more sectors:
Pharmaceutical
Commercial
Strong experience in:
Measuring cable containment from layouts
Measuring electrical services from drawings
Quantifying MV and LV cable from schematics
Purchasing electrical materials and equipment
Working with suppliers and procurement processes
Experience working on projects valued €10m–€50m+
Experience with ELV systems
Experience using BIM models
Involvement in:
Pricing and tendering
Variation management
Subcontractor management
Cost reporting and cashflow forecasting
Key Skills
Strong analytical and numerical ability
Excellent attention to detail
Good communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced project environment
