Construction - Health & Safety Internship / Placement
Loughrea, Co. Galway, Ireland
This role is for a HSQE Intern. Working for Glanua is exciting, challenging and incredibly rewarding. As a HSQE Intern, you will support the implementation of our HSQE System and work closely with our site teams to ensure our projects are delivered safely and risks are appropriately managed on site.
Responsibilities:
Work as part of a team in the safe delivery of our projects, embracing the ethos of a “one team” culture.
Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies, and procedures are always adhered to on‑site.
Instill a positive Health and Safety culture within the team in their thinking and actions.
Ensure compliance with current Environmental, Health and Safety legislation and maintain awareness of legislative changes and industry standards.
Provide onsite HSQE presence during construction and operations to ensure HSQE controls, mitigation measures are implemented, maintained and performance monitored.
Help advisors or senior advisors to develop CSHSP’s, traffic management, waste management, etc. with the project team and monitor their implementation.
Ensure the Company carries out the duties of PSCS and PSDP.
Ensure support to project team that all internal and external EHS reporting requirements are complied with.
Monitor and report on the collection, recording, analysis, implementation of actions taken and feedback provided to the hazards identified during the weekly inspection/audits through our online management system.
Support/assist the team in accident/incident investigations in a timely manner, and with the support of the project team, making recommendations to management in respect of these.
Obtaining and reviewing safety documentation from Clients, Suppliers and Subcontractors; assist site management in ensuring that subcontractors are made aware of the Company’s Safety Statement and the projects CSHSP before appointment.
Shadowing project team in reviewing, revising and updating the CSHSP in the light of subcontractors’ information, the progress of work, the receipt of new design information and the occurrence of incidents or accidents.
Implementing the CSHSP and monitoring the compliance of Company personnel and subcontractors against the Plan.
Brings any safety, health or welfare issues to the attention of the Contract Manager, Site Agent/foreman for action prior to leaving site.
Shadow site management and HSQE Advisors on the suitability and adequacy of safety and health provisions, safe working methods, safety of equipment and the validity of test certificates.
Assist with the maintenance of all site safety documentation in conjunction with the site team.
Plans and holds safety inductions and briefings of Company and subcontractors’ personnel as detailed in the Safety and Health Plan for each project.
Shadow carrying out Site Inspections and generating reports as requested.
