The organisation delivers automation components, systems, consulting, engineering, and training services to a wide range of industries, with a strong focus on machinery safety, process safety, and industrial security.Operating within a global network, the Irish site supports software development, technical services, key account management, and local sales operations.Employees benefit from:Competitive salaryBonus schemePrivate healthcare allowanceCompany car & fuel cardLaptop & home-working equipmentPension & life assuranceAdditional leave entitlementsEmployee Assistance ProgrammeFlexible working and an extensive suite of wellbeing policiesThe RoleReporting to the Sales Team Leader, the Technical Sales Engineer will be responsible for driving profitable sales growth and strengthening market penetration across Ireland—particularly within the pharmaceutical, food & beverage, and wider process industry sectors.You will manage and develop key customer relationships, identify new opportunities, and act as a technical applications expert for process industry solutions. The role also includes supporting wider business development activities across Ireland and the UK.Key ResponsibilitiesYou will:Manage assigned customer accounts, deepening relationships and increasing revenue and profitabilityLead the full customer lifecycle—from opportunity identification through to closing orders and expanding share of walletIdentify, qualify, and convert new sales opportunities in agreed regions and sectorsDevelop strong technical knowledge of the organisation's full product and services portfolio, becoming the applications specialist for the process industryAct as the internal champion for process safety and process industry solutionsSupport business development initiatives across the UK and IrelandWork closely with the Sales Manager, Team Leader, and other internal teams across marketing, distribution, and technical supportMaintain accurate CRM records, including contacts, opportunities, and account activityProduce sales reports and competitor intelligence as requiredFollow all company policies, including H&S, security, and data protection requirementsThe PersonMinimum 5 years' experience in technical sales within the process industry sector (pharma, biopharma, food & beverage, etc.)Proven success selling industrial automation, capital equipment, or safety solutionsAbility to discuss both technical and commercial aspects of automation projects from shop floor to senior managementPersuasive, professional, and confident communicatorStrong initiative, self-motivation, and ability to work independently and within a teamFull clean driving licenceWillingness to travel across Ireland, with occasional UK and international travel including overnight staysEssential CriteriaExperience managing full customer-facing processes including presales, proposal generation, order administration, and customer supportDemonstrated ability to manage multiple customer accounts totalling approx. €2m annuallyThird-level qualification and/or professional development in sales or a business-related fieldUnderstanding of project engineering practices within the process industry and how they relate to commercial deliveryKnowledge of process automation technologies such as PLCs, control systems, safety relays, DCS, safe automation systems, industrial security technologies, and related equipmentTrack record of achieving and exceeding sales targetsStrong IT proficiency with tools used for sales management and reportingDesired CriteriaKnowledge of industry standards and regulations related to machinery and process safety (e.g., IEC 61511, Machinery Directive)Experience working with ERP or CRM tools (e.g., SAP or similar)Understanding of industrial security risk assessment methodologiesPostgraduate business or commercial qualificationStrong contact network within pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, medical technology, and/or food & beverage sectors in IrelandExperience working within global or multicultural environments
