Pro-Light Design & Technology are hiring for the position of a Professional Lighting Designer.Working as part of the Design Team, the role will involve providing design support across the business.Key Responsibilities will includeDesign & Concept DevelopmentDevelop lighting concepts that complement architectural intent and spatial experienceTranslate client briefs and architectural drawings into creative, technically robust lighting designsProduce lighting narratives, concept visuals, and presentation materialsBalance aesthetic, functional, and environmental considerationsTechnical Design & DocumentationPrepare lighting layouts, schematics, and technical drawingsSpecify luminaires, control systems, drivers, and mounting detailsDevelop calculations for illuminance, uniformity, glare control, and complianceProduce schedules, specifications, and tender documentationCollaboration & CoordinationWork closely with architects, interior designers, engineers, contractors and clientsCoordinate lighting design with structural, electrical, and interior elementsAttend design meetings, site visits, and coordination workshopsControls, Commissioning & DeliveryDesign lighting control strategies (e.g. dimming, scenes, daylight integration)Support commissioning and focusing on site to ensure design intent is achievedReview mock-ups, samples, and factory submittalsSustainability & ComplianceIntegrate energy-efficient and sustainable lighting solutionsEnsure designs comply with local codes, standards, and certifications (e.g. WELL, LEED, BREEAM)Consider life-cycle costs, maintenance, and environmental impactRequired Skills & CompetenciesTechnical SkillsStrong understanding of lighting principles, optics, and photometricsProficiency in lighting calculation and visualization software (e.g. Dialux, Relux)Experience with CAD/BIM platforms (AutoCAD, Revit, Vectorworks)Knowledge of lighting controls (DALI, DMX, KNX, Casambi, Lutron)Design & Creative SkillsStrong spatial awareness and architectural sensitivityAbility to articulate design intent visually and verballyHigh level of attention to detailProfessional SkillsStrong communication and client-facing abilitiesTime management and ability to manage multiple projectsCollaborative mindset and problem-solving approachQualifications & ExperienceEssential:Degree or equivalent in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, or related fieldProven experience in architectural lighting designPortfolio demonstrating built or detailed design workDesirable:Membership of professional bodies (e.g. IALD, ILP, CIBSE)Experience with high-end commercial, retail, hospitality, residential, or public realm projectsKnowledge of Irish and international standards and project deliveryWorking ConditionsCompetitive Salary based on skills and experienceHybrid Office/Home based with occasional site visitsOccasional travel depending on project requirementsCollaborative environment.
