Robotics Engineer: Pharmaceutical Manufacturing (Contract- Long-term)

A leading global life sciences organisation is seeking a
Robotics Engineer
to support the design and implementation of advanced automation solutions across a high-value pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
The successful candidate will take a lead role in delivering robotics integration projects involving
Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs)
,
loading and unloading systems
, and
vial tracking technologies
. This position will work closely with global automation and CAPEX teams to enhance operational efficiency, support GMP compliance, and ensure seamless integration with higher-level systems such as MES/eBR, fleet management, and OT domains.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, implement, and validate robotics and AMR systems within a GMP-regulated fill-finish environment
* Integrate robotics into electronic batch record (eBR), fleet management, and historian systems
* Lead vendor evaluations, manage external partners, and oversee project execution
* Develop technical documentation, design specifications, and validation plans (URS, FAT, IQ/OQ, etc.)
* Collaborate with IT, OT, and CQV teams to ensure system compliance, cybersecurity, and technical readiness
* Support user training, SOP development, and project handover activities
Required Experience:
* Degree in Engineering, Automation, or Computer Science (or equivalent)
* 5–10 years' experience delivering robotics or AMR projects in a GMP or highly regulated manufacturing environment
* Strong understanding of
GMP
and
validation
principles
* Proven background in
automation integration
and vendor management
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
* Willingness to be on-site in Cork full-time during implementation (3 days/week during design phase)
