Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Mechanical Design Team Lead to join our dynamic engineering team at AIR Shannon. In this role, you will lead a group of talented mechanical design engineers, overseeing the development of innovative equipment and solutions that meet and exceed customer expectations. You'll play a key part in project planning, execution, and delivery ensuring quality, safety, and technical excellence at every stage.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Design
· Lead the Mechanical Design team in delivering high-quality, customer-focused engineering solutions.
· Manage and monitor assigned projects, providing regular progress reports on technical issues and milestones.
· Oversee all phases of the design process—from initial proposal through to execution, delivery, and post-project review.
· Ensure all designs, drawings, and BOMs meet accuracy, quality, and compliance standards.
· Perform and review engineering calculations and component specifications as required.
· Conduct and lead internal and customer-facing mechanical design reviews.
· Foster best practices within the team, ensuring adherence to H&S, time management, documentation, and drawing standards.
· Delegate tasks effectively and promote accountability within the design team.
· Support company objectives and act in the best interests of the organisation at all times.
Project Delivery
* Execute projects in alignment with departmental plans and schedules.
* Collaborate closely with Project Management and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
* Confirm and document customer requirements, ensuring all parties have a clear and shared understanding.
* Maintain strong communication with customers, securing all necessary information in a timely manner.
* Plan and allocate resources efficiently to meet project timelines and objectives.
* Track key project metrics (time, cost, scope) and report updates to the Department Lead and Project Manager.
* Ensure strict compliance with quality and revision control standards, documentation, and procedures.
Communication & Collaboration
* Deliver clear and concise project and team updates to internal and external stakeholders.
* Establish consistent communication routines within the team to maintain alignment and progress.
* Maintain professional, timely, and well-documented communications across all project interactions.
* Encourage collaboration across departments to drive shared ownership and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
· Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in mechanical design or engineering leadership.
* Strong customer focus with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
* Self-motivated, dependable, and results driven.
* High level of integrity, efficiency, and professionalism.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Demonstrated decision-making ability and sound engineering judgment.
* Proven capability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
