Job Role and Department
The Associate Consultant, Compliance is part of a global team responsible for ensuring the bank adheres to all sanctions, laws and regulations imposed by the United States Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and other sanctions programs, including the Council of the European Union and the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Reviews and assesses escalated sanction wire transactions that alert from the sanction screening systems to determine if they are permissible under Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and/or any other applicable jurisdictional sanctions program.
Conduct quality control of areas performing sanction screening, to assure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and adherence to internal policies/procedures.
Advises business partners on the Sanctions Compliance Program and applicable laws, regulations, rules and standards, including keeping them informed of developments or changes that may affect their area.
Identifies any compliance sanctions risks associated with the Company’s activities.
Collaborates on projects with team members, exhibiting ongoing learning and basic project management skills.
Consults with management regarding more complex or sensitive investigations.
Operates independently; has in-depth knowledge of financial crimes; and carries out activities that are large in scope, cross-functional and technically difficult.
Skills and Qualifications
Exposure to AML/Risk/Compliance/ Sanctions or general banking operations.
Collaborative approach to work, with strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and effective manner (verbal and written).
Organizational skills required to coordinate compliance activities.
