Maintenance and Projects Engineer

Department: Plastics

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Carrickmacross

Compensation: €55,000 / year



Description

A new exciting Maintenance & Projects Engineer role has become available in our Carrickmacross site. This role will be responsible for maintenance, engineering and the management of Projects for the Carrickmacross Packaging division



Key Responsibilities



Health and Safety

· Ensure a culture of Safety First across the site through positive communication and leadership within the team.

· Ensure adherence to safety, environmental & quality standards, and regulations. Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) are reviewed and updated with key stakeholders as necessary.

· Report any concerns, near misses or incidents to your line Manager immediately and take immediate appropriate action if required.

· Partner with HSE officer to run safety initiatives and complete HSE checks and inspections.

Facility and Production

· Ensure the safe and efficient running of the plant and equipment while ensuring that the main performance targets are achieved.

· In conjunction with other key stakeholders prepare a planned preventative maintenance schedule and ensure inspection is in place to keep downtime to a minimum.

· Manage the day-to-day operations of the maintenance team and contractors, scheduling work to ensure production needs are met with minimal downtime and disruption.

· Improve the production facilities and reduce the number of costly breakdown incidents by developing a proactive maintenance strategy.

· Manage and advise third party contractors to ensure that costs are controlled, and health and safety standards are maintained.

· Manage and maintain site facilities.

· Manage and participate in continuous improvement and engineering projects and positively contribute to team meetings.

· Maintain a stock of critical parts and consumable needed to maintain machinery and equipment and order parts as needed.

· Coordinate tasks on sites according to priorities and put daily management plans in place ensuring that all HSE guidelines are followed.

People Management · Contribute to creating a positive culture where employees take responsibility for their role and raise continuous improvement initiatives which are follow up upon and closed out.

· Train operators where required and ensure that all their training manuals and certificates are up to date in conjunction with key stakeholders.



Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

* Strong engineering (civil, mechanical), Environmental Science, or Agricultural primary degree
* 3+ years' experience in the engineering, environmental science, waste industry an advantage.
* Good report writing skills, proficient in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Strong research and reporting skills
* Experience managing plant and equipment
* Ability to quickly understand the technical and operational issues facing the Environmental Services Sector
* Ability to understand Health and Safety requirements and adhering to company H&S standards
* Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships within the existing team and amongst clients
* Strong drive, self-starter and ambition to work in a fast paced environment
