This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
Job Description
Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form. This learning opportunity is to assist with the administration of the center. You will be working alongside the manager. This is a non‑contact role and you will not be involved in any child‑minding duties or mind of children.
Our daily tasks will include:
* Assist the manager with scheduling team meetings and managing calendars
* Assist with communicating project details via email and phone to team members and stakeholders
* Assist with entering project data into spreadsheets to track schedules, budgets, risks, and issues, for NCS and Tusla
* Assist with research by sitting in on stakeholder interviews and reviewing documentation
* Assist with administrative tasks such as printing, scanning, and filing project materials
Our school age service comprises of over 80 children in 4 different locations. The main location is in Crossmolina. We are registered with Tusla and have to ensure all policies and procedures are being followed. Our service in Crossmolina operates during term and outside of term. During term the children come for breakfast at 8am until 9:20am and again in the afternoons from 1:30pm to 6pm. Outside of term they can choose half days or full days.
We also organise fundraisers for ourselves and help other community projects e.g. girls football team.
Role Description
This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement.
Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.
Formal Training
2 hours per week of instructor‑led project management fundamentals training.
Online courses on - Microsoft Office software - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, - Childrens first - Coaching on business writing skills for emails and reports.
Informal Training
Participate in brainstorming sessions to shadow problem‑solving for project issues.
Learn to organise hard‑copy and electronic project files and documentation.
Shadow project manager to observe office processes, procedures, and etiquette.
