Senior Maintenance Technician Role
This is a senior maintenance technician position based in County Kildare, Republic of Ireland.
The ideal candidate will be an advanced technician with subject matter expertise on asset management and maintenance procedures.
The Senior Maintenance Technician will support the maintenance technicians and apprentices in maintaining equipment uptime and lead by example to create a well-coordinated and efficient working environment for all.
The role includes:
* Responding to breakdowns and providing support to technicians where necessary
* Assisting supervisors and managers in monitoring machine reliability
* Identifying and executing machine/line improvement projects
* Liaising with production on line improvement projects
* Assisting with commissioning of new machinery
* Assisting with training of technicians and operators
* Assisting with evaluation of existing PM's and modifying where necessary
* Providing on-call support and attending site if necessary
* Flexibility to support holiday and sickness cover for other shifts
* Playing a key role in planning and executing machine and fabric repairs in advance of visits and audits
* Participating and inputting into PM programmes and spare parts projects
* Engaging with H&S compliance programme
Key responsibilities include:
* Production support on shift as required
* Supporting team leaders/line support with phone support and on-callouts
* Supporting maintenance leaders with regards to projects, improvement plans, audit preparation, and maintenance works plans
* Providing support and assisting in evaluating existing PM's and setting up new PM's
* Working with the maintenance team in the planning of shutdown works and machine overhauls
* Training and supporting technicians and operators on existing and new machines
* Coordinating with engineering stores ensuring the stocking of machine spare parts
* Assisting engineering stores in the evaluation of existing spare parts stocks and playing an active part in reducing redundant stock
* Assisting the health and safety team in carrying out risk assessments of new and existing machines and ensuring training is rolled out to the maintenance team regarding same
* Assisting/coordinating the execution of health and safety machine/line upgrades and machine compliance in line with guarding and safety regulations
* Involvement in lean projects and process improvements
* Creating/updating best practice methods for specific tasks on equipment in the plant, documenting and training same
* Planned preventative maintenance and breakdown support is part of this role, transferring skills to other team members
* Recording daily tasks on CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System)
Applicants should possess:
* Minimum two years' experience as a maintenance technician
* Demonstrated ability in fault-finding and downtime issue resolution
* Machine knowledge in core processing equipment – thermoformers, bagging machines, multi-headed weighers, and cooking & freezing assets
* Experience in mentoring junior staff and having the ability to transfer technical knowledge
* Experience in managing contractor staff
