The HSE has created six new health regions. Each region is responsible for providing both hospital and community care for the people in that area. Bringing community health services and hospitals together means we can take a more patient-centred approach to healthcare.
HSE Dublin North East provides health and social care to North Dublin, Louth, Meath, Monaghan and most areas of Cavan.
Community Healthcare Services are delivered through the HSE and its funded agencies to people in local communities, as close as possible to people's homes. Community Healthcare Services focus on keeping you well so that you can continue to live at home or close to home through our health promotion, disease screening, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation programs. You can refer yourself to most Community Healthcare Services or through your GP, public health nurse, community mental health team, etc. Services include - Primary Care, Social Care - Older Persons, Social Care – Disabilities, Mental Health, Health and Wellbeing, Quality, Safety and Service Improvement.

Addictions Services
HSE Social Inclusion – Addiction Service's primary responsibility is to improve the health outcomes for persons with addiction issues, homeless, refugees, asylum seekers, traveller and Roma communities. The largest direct service that is provided at present is the provision of services (primarily Opioid Substitution Treatment) for individuals with an opioid dependence.
The population of the area is approximately 220,000, with approximately 1,700 patients attending HSE treatment locations. There are a further 1080 patients attending primary care services in the area.
Addiction Services Community provides a specialist service for adults in Community Healthcare Organisation – Dublin North City and County, with substances misuse issues.
All HSE direct services are delivered with and through multi-disciplinary teams, providing a wide range of psychosocial interventions to service users.
The HSE also funds in the region of 100 agencies in the Community Health Organisation Dublin North City and County who also deliver services to those who misuse substances and their families. The HSE needs to ensure robust arrangements are in place between the organisation and its funded agencies to ensure services are delivered in line with HSE policy and best practice.
This role is specifically related to the Integrated alcohol services which will deal specifically with people who suffer from problem drinking and alcohol dependence.
