Established in 2003, SDS are an award-winning design focused civil, structural, geotechnical and water engineering practice. Our highly skilled and experienced design team has extensive experience in design and build contracts including design services and are fully competent with the most up to date software. Our clients are in public and private sectors, including government bodies, developers, main contractors and owners.
The successful candidate will be a Member of Engineers Ireland with at least 5 years experience in Civil and/or Structural Engineering including design and construction. You will assist in the preparation of high-quality engineering design for a broad range of civil and structural engineering projects.
Qualifications & Competencies
Education
* Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
Essential Requirements
* Minimum 5+ years experience in a civil and/or structural engineering design consultancy. Some site experience would be beneficial but not essential.
* Strong project management skills with a track record of successful project delivery
* Experience working in a regulated, quality-focused environment
* Strong working knowledge of current Irish Building Regulations
* Strong working knowledge of British Standards and Eurocodes for Concrete, Steel, Masonry and Timber
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit, with the ability to produce high-quality technical designs and drawings
* Experience using structural analysis software such as Robot, STAAD, PRO-QSE or similar
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Proactive, adaptable, and solution-focused approach
Desirable
* Masters degree in a relevant discipline
* Professional Project Management qualification
* Site experience
* Membership of Engineers Ireland
Main Responsibilities
Project Management
* Manage workflow for civil and structural engineering projects, reporting to the SDS Director and maintaining project trackers, key dates and resource allocations
* Act as a primary point of contact for clients during tender and construction stages
* Ensure early-stage project reviews and design intent are completed by the project team prior to Director review
* Attend site meetings and key project milestones as required
* Review pre-construction information with the SDS Director prior to client issue
* Provide support to clients in a civil and structural consultancy role
* Participate in project close-out reviews with the SDS Director
Design Management
* Lead the civil and structural design team on projects across Ireland and Spain
* Agree, manage and monitor project delivery milestones
* Allocate team resources to support engineers and architects in individual projects
* Monitor team efficiency in responding to clients on RFIs, general correspondence and production/issue of information
