Overview
Behavioral Health Urgent Care Supervisor at CNS Healthcare. The BHUC Supervisor oversees day-to-day operations and supervision of Behavioral Health Urgent Care. The BHUC Supervisor is a working role. Behavioral health urgent care offers prompt, specialized support for individuals facing a mental health or substance use crisis. It serves as a critical link between primary care and emergency services, focusing on stabilizing individuals, evaluating their needs, and connecting them to appropriate follow-up care—often helping to avoid unnecessary emergency room visits.
Responsibilities
* Be present in the clinic each day.
* Serve as a leader and role model for the organization in matters relating to Behavioral Health Urgent Care and provide daily supervision of assigned team operations.
* Oversee assigned staff work assignments and work schedules to meet the needs of individuals served and the agency.
* Ensure that direct reports meet direct service productivity and documentation standards per agency and program expectations.
* Assist assigned team members as needed in all aspects of triage, service planning, treatment, and support activities.
* Complete all assigned reporting and projects within designated time frames.
* Utilize formal and informal assessment practices to respond to crisis, needs, desires, and interests of the individual/family.
* Ensure that the individual’s needs are identified and initially met through innovative and clinically effective methods.
* Perform triage to determine if the individual requires a higher level of care.
* Assist with de-escalation when necessary.
* Complete intakes as needed.
* Ensure documentation of attendance at required trainings is maintained for all assigned staff and available for review upon request.
* Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures that comply with regulatory standards and organizational goals in alignment with the agency’s mission.
* Regularly assess the quality of work and operational metrics for assigned staff and make suggestions for continuous improvement including the development of team improvement goals.
* Collaborate with other departments, agencies, and external partners regarding resources and services for improved patient care and staff development.
* Support the development of agency staff and community partners by providing training as assigned.
* Attend and participate in meetings, committees, and workgroups as assigned.
* Serve as a subject-matter expert on the use of electronic health record (EHR) systems and health registries and promote the utilization of the Community Electronic Health Record (CEHR) for individuals served.
* Ensure assigned staff compliance with quality care initiatives including Meaningful Use (MU), Medicare MIPS, CARF, and CCBHC requirements.
* Ensure CNS Healthcare standards of service are applied to interactions with individuals served, guests, and staff.
* Participate in and promote departmental and agency quality improvement initiatives.
* Maintain knowledge and compliance with established policies and procedures, corporate compliance program, code of ethics, applicable laws, HIPAA, and other regulatory programs.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
* Provide consistent individual supervision (recorded) at least monthly based on needs and experience, including monthly case reviews and corrective action steps.
* Organize and oversee day-to-day operations of the assigned team to ensure appropriate coverage.
* Educate, enforce, and ensure team compliance with CNS Healthcare policies and procedures.
* Cultivate and enhance team, department, and interdepartmental relationships to promote collaboration and a positive working environment.
* Serve as a communication conduit between direct reports, department leadership, and agency leadership.
* Build a strong team by attracting, onboarding, and developing direct reports to retain high-performance members.
* Provide ongoing supervision focused on productivity, performance goals, and project deadlines.
* Manage employee performance, including warnings, evaluations, and development of goals.
* Lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with standards across the organization.
* Manage work schedules, time and attendance, paid time off, and mileage for assigned staff.
Qualifications
Required
* Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy
* State licensure: LMSW, LPC, LMFT, or LP
* At least 2 years of experience in community mental health; at least 5 years in related human services areas
* Leadership experience overseeing direct reports or staff training
* Working knowledge of conflict resolution and crisis intervention
* Flexibility to provide coverage across all operational hours
* Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office, and EHRs
* Ability to work with individuals with mental or physical limitations

* Discretion and judgment with confidential matters
* Valid Michigan Driver’s License and automobile insurance
Preferred
* At least 3 years of experience in a community mental health setting
* Experience in a crisis or urgent care setting
Travel
This position may require travel during the workday to other locations. CNS Healthcare operates multiple sites and may require driving to several locations or working at different sites as needed.
